Conditions

Common Conditions which can be treated with Chiropractic include the following:

Sciatica: There are 4 or 5 nerves branching off the spinal cord that form the sciatic nerve which runs down the back of each leg. Sciatica is a severe pain in the leg caused by irritation or compression of the nerve. Causes of Sciatica include Vertebral Subluxation Complex, which can also include herniation of the pulpy discs which separate each spinal bone. The result is intense, shooting pain down one or both legs.

Pinched Nerve: A pinched nerve is caused by direct pressure from a bone on nerve tissue. This can result in burning, numbness or a feeling of pins and needles in the affected area. It should be noted that an actual pinched nerve is relatively rare. More often, malfunctioning spinal joints cause nerves to be irritated and cause similar pain and discomfort.

Headaches: You do not have to accept headaches as normal; they are not. They are a sign that something isn’t right. It can be stress related or physically related. The malfunction of the spinal joints in the neck and back are frequently overlooked causes of headaches. Many people have found relief from lifelong battles with headaches after receiving Chiropractic care. Spinal nerves and and nearby tissues can get stretched and irritated thus produce throbbing headaches. The return of normal spine positioning often relieves sensitive nerves and blood vessels in the head.

Autoimmune: A healthy immune system is designed to protect the body from harm, responding to both internal or external triggers — toxins, cancer cells, substances from another person or species. Disorders of the immune system can occur when the immune response does not meet the body’s needs and may be too strong, insufficient or not appropriate.

Carpal Tunnel: Pain in wrists, arms and hands can often be traced to subluxations in the neck or back. Carpal tunnel is formed by bones in the wrist. The median nerve, tendons and blood vessels are contained in this opening. If one or more bones forming this tunnel become misaligned, then pain and pressure result, causing patients numbness or extreme shooting pains. The median nerve connects to the spinal cord through several bones. Thus, there can be many factors that contribute to Carpal Tunnel that are not located near the wrist or arm, often originating in the back or neck.

Scoliosis: Scoliosis is the sideways curving of the spine. It is more often seen in girls during childhood. The exact cause is often unknown. It is believed that Scoliosis is the result of a genetic or hereditary problem. Sometimes it can be the result of an adaptation of another trauma or injury. Scoliosis often worsens if left untreated.

Arthritis: (or Subluxation Degeneration) Subluxation degeneration also known as Arthritis is related to the same process the body uses to mend bone. It attempts to fuse the adjacent spinal bones together. When spinal damage goes untreated, the body will deposit calcium in the surface of bones that aren’t moving correctly. If they go neglected, this splinting effect can result in complete fusion of the adjoining bones. Chiropractic adjustments can help prevent and improve subluxation degeneration.

Whiplash: Injuries to the neck caused by a rapid movement of the head from front to back or from side to side is known as Whiplash. This condition can be caused by a car accident, work injury, sport injury or a fall. A Chiropractic checkup can assist with prolonged pain and symptoms that are associated with Whiplash that occur even years after the initial injury.
